My girls love to take pictures of just about anything….themselves, their friends, their brothers, their room! We end up having to delete photos from their phones to make room for new ones.
Often before we delete old pictures, I’ll print out their favorites for them. But what do we do with all these pictures? Until recently, I’ll shamefully admit that they were stored in a box, or taped to a bedroom wall. We weren’t very organized, and it was truly a mess.
I realized that as they get older their affinity for keeping memories alive with pictures will only increase. Apparently it’s hereditary! So, I knew we needed some simple organization solutions to allow them to easily view and enjoy their pictures.
We pulled out their favorite printed photos, and went to work creating two ways for them to display and document their memories.
Kylie chose to create a corkboard for her wall. We used the Tres Chic Create a Style Board which has a bright pink ornate frame, and comes with lots of great embellishments like ribbons and cardstock frames.
Kylie cropped and added pictures to her board creating her own unique design that showed off her personality. As an added bonus, it makes a great focal point for her side of the room that the girls share.
A picture corkboard is a convenient and inexpensive way for kids to display pictures and mementos. Plus, children can simply change out the pictures when they’re ready to display new memories.
Caitlyn decided to go a more permanent route with her memory keeping solution. She created a colorful scrapbook full of personality! My First Scrapbook is a fantastic first scrapbook craft kit for kids. It works for a variety of ages since you can design the pages anyway you’d like.
The kit contains several embellishments including fun sticker sayings to add character to pictures. Caitlyn had fun documenting some fun shots of her brothers, as well as her prized pictures of this year’s Father Daughter Gala event.
Now when the girls want to remember these important people and events in their lives, all they have to do is walk over to the corkboard on their wall, or open the pages of their very own scrapbook. It’s an easy way to keep those memories alive!
